Dawn Blair
Dawn Blair is known for her whimsical, imaginative designs in wire and natural gemstones. Dawn is self taught both in jewelry and lapidary work. She studied Art History, Ceramics, and Music in college, and also went to floral school. Soon after, she became a top floral designer in Northeast Kansas, and began to play cello professionally. She attributes her success in the many artistic endeavors she has pursued, to the influence of her mother. “My mother is fearless. Growing up, there wasn’t an art or craft my mother didn’t tackle. We would be out somewhere, and she would see something neat. She would look at me and say, “You know… we can do this!” She never ever showed a shred of doubt, no matter what she was attempting to make. She is a great problem solver, which I think is the key to achieving great design. My mother was taught growing up by my Pennsylvania Dutch grandmother to always pay attention to detail and strive for the finest craftsmanship in everything she did. That is the philosophy my mother has imparted to me, and I stand by that in everything I do.” Dawn’s work has been featured in a few exhibitions, and has been sold in a several galleries and museums, and she still does a few shows every year. She enjoys helping people realize they can create beautiful work, too. She believes it just takes practice and believing in yourself.
