Caitlin McNamara

Caitlin McNamara grew up in the Pacific Northwest, where, from her early years, she was entranced by the tiny details of the natural world. As a child, she sculpted countless animal figures from polymer clay, a portend and practice for things to come. She would go on to study journalism, which led her to work and life in NYC. In 2011, on the counter of her Brooklyn apartment, Caitlin began experimenting with silver clay, which was a magical “ah ha!” moment that led to a complete change of career.

Since then, her work has been carried in dozens of stores across the US and sold internationally under the name Blue Dot Jewelry. Her work centers on sculpted likenesses of real and unusual animals and capturing intricate textures found in nature. Caitlin teaches Silver Clay through in-person and online video courses and through social media, where she has a robust following and loves to spread the word about this magnificent medium.
